^^^^that makes my head hurt^^^...lol, dont really understand all the circuts n stuff yet...got some learning to do!
I have a question for the OP. you stated that the M-504 is a common ground amp. Please tell me if this is a fact. I looked at the schematics and would agree with you that it is a common ground amp, but after contacting ONKYO Corporate yesterday and being told that it is NOT a common ground amp, I'm confused. Anyone have any insight on this? Sorry for hijacking the thread but have been trying to confirm if my M-504 or Adcom GFA-555 are common ground amps or not. I'm looking at a set of POLK Audio SDA SRS speakers and they are very specific about wanting a common ground amplifier hooked up to them. Thanks again for any insight. Btw, Adcom just got back to me and the GFA-555 is a common ground amp.
Speakers don't care what kind of ground is in the amplifier.
All they want is an input wire and an output wire.
They are a two wire load.

The Polk's do.
I don't get this either. In a setup with more than 1 channel, only 2 parameters of the signal are important for the speaker (any speaker) - amplitude and phase.
What is so special about the Polk's speakers?
Common ground is just one way to make sure tha phase will be (most likely) OK. But you can achieve the same result with monoblocks or bridged amps, if you do it right.

The SDA series requires connection to both channels on each speaker, and requires the amplifier have a common ground.

Ah, ok. An array. Makes sense than, thank you for explanation.
