I am doing some research into capacitors to tweak the crossover in my nOrh speaker that uses Vifa M18WO-09-09 and XT25TG30-04. The stock caps are electrolytic because of the very high values.
I am currently looking at Sonicaps and AudioCap. Seems that the Sonic is pretty new as I can't find much info here and at AA.
Before I can go further, I am rather confuse with the “labelling” on these capacitors that I am looking at.
What are the differences between Metalized Polypropylene Capacitor PPMF and Polypropylene & Tin Film & Foil PPT Theta from AudioCap?
Will each model produce different sound or the diff between them is merely in capacitance value.
While I am at it, do you think that these branded caps will be overkill for the Vifa drivers? The one I need is 10uF and 30uF, 100V for tweeter. Due to the high cost, I may leave the cap for the woofer alone as it need a 33uF one which is expensive. I was also told that capacitor is not so important for woofer as inductor are.
Also, is it worth to replace the resistors? I am looking at the Mills.
Thanks for any info.
