• WARNING: Tube/Valve amplifiers use potentially LETHAL HIGH VOLTAGES.
Building, troubleshooting and testing of these amplifiers should only be
performed by someone who is thoroughly familiar with
the safety precautions around high voltages.

Look for high-voltage regulator projects

I like your condensed version of the space exploration history. It avoids a lot of controversy and unsubstantiated claims.

It comes as no surprise that you share an equally down to earth approach to the finer points of audio.

Finally someone got my point  I do not like overcomplicated matters. Music is an art, audio is a science (not me, someone more educated in this subject). BTW, I took space exploration history as examples of extraordinary achievement of science and engineering, which is incomparably more complex then 10-tube amplifier, a fossil technology by today's standards with the last significant patents filled in 50th and 60th.

I wonder if radianceaudio enjoys hes sexual life the same way he perceives audio, taking into account hes medical education and background. An electric signal from brain cell group AAA ignites blood pressure level at YYY, etc. etc.

But stop thinking you know what's happening between your ears and your cerebral cortex in a blinded situation.

To be honest, I do not care. There are billions of cells inside my body, incl. 1.5KG of bacterias and viruses (as recent research suggests). I cannot think about all this stuff, its just too much of it.

But what I know for sure visual impression (and other auxiliary information, e.g. price) DOES have influence over perception of audio reproduction. Double blinded tests allow to filter out pure audio impression apart from design preferences, etc. And these tests will instantly ruin 90% of audiophile myth, leaving too many interested pockets empty.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd just pull this one up. I completed (finally) 2 of Janneman's tube regulators. After accidently putting the LED's in backwards I got it hooked up to my new (old) Heathkit bench supply, set the regulator for 300v and fed it 350v and measured the output. It was a little off but thats because my resistor values weren't 100% accurate. However, I replaced one of the reference resistors with a 1 watt trimmer pot and I used that to dial in the correct voltage. I was happy to see that the output stayed rock solid and stable for the duration of the test. It was really cool to both use my new test equipment and successfully complete my first regulator. I'm going to drop it in my next Kt-88 amp. Thanks Janneman!
