I was using a 74HC74 for my synchronous reclocker (non oversampled TDA1543 with passive I/V).
It is powered by a NPN emitter follower "regulator", with current sourcing three LEDs (bypassed) for the reference.
Yesterday I exchanged it for a VHC version, as some have suggested to "sound" good.
To my very big suprise 😕 the improvements were not subtle
Biggest change is the "coldness" has gone, sounds "warmer".
Basses are slightly better and there is a little more "air".
Thanks to Elso Kwak for this nice tweak 😎

Elso, I've got a philips CD624 and a Cambridge DacMagic2.
For which device would it make sense to change the clock or should I reclock both?

Reclocking
Hi Tazzy,
Ooops, with both players I am not familiar.
In my limited experience I have found that every type of CDP reacts differently to my clock.
The Philips CD-380 and CD-650 get more bright.
My old Sony CDPX33ES changed fom unlistable to barable. and in the cheap Sony CDPM27 the difference was not too great.
I suggest to built one clock and try it in both players. If lucky you have only to change the crystal or not even that (if the frequency is the same).😎

KWAK-CLOCK
Hi Tazzy, Sorry I was confused.
The KWAK-CLOCK is for installation in the transport and the Asynchronous Reclocker can be installed in your DAC, just before the DAC chip.

Elso:
Have you ever installed your KWAK-CLOCK and/or Asynchronous Reclocker into a Marantz DR-17 combination CD player / CD-R burner?
If not, do you know of anyone else who has?
Any other effective modifications for a DR-17 would also be appreciated.
regards, jonathan carr

DR-17 Mods
Hi Jonathan,
I did a search in my received emails but no reference to the DR-17. Me myself have never seen this model.
Sorry not being able to help you better.
