I will be using a DC blocking cap...

DC blocking prevents the pot affecting the output offset.

However, the Rs of the pot affects the low pass filter that should be installed at the front of the chipamp.

25k is much worse than 2k5 in this respect and the variable treble filter effect cannot be avoided with a passive attenuator.

Andrew can correct me here but a 10k or smaller log pot gives the best results with the majority of designs in public domain. (pretty similar to 100k lin with law fake resistor) Stash the 100k pot somewhere and get what you need. In fact invest in a good quality 10k pot or stepped attenuator if these chips are what you intend to drive...

Someday you will find a use for the 100k... I had a bunch lying here for 2 years and went through all of them in a week last month.

or use an active attenuator rather than passive.
100klog+buffer to feed the power amp.

This allows flexibility in the location of the attenuator. It can be at either end or anywhere between the ends of quite long interconnects.
