Thanks DAK. I checked shipping, but that is about the same as the sockets+shipping from russia for me.
Well, if anyone is interested in these genuine USA made Amphenol Loctal sockets shoot me an email. There is a total of 8. Epay doesn't have many vintage NOS stock, used ones are going for 5.00 and up.

Just remove the spring from it, loctal sockets were designed for mobile military tubes. I suppose your amp does not experience such vibrations, so "Locking" Octal Sockets is not needed.
BTW, the russian sockets just arrived, they fit like a glove. Tube goes in nicely, no jamming it in with a hammer. Lock keeps it in place, but not too hard to remove again.
Going to replace the one in my tracer and now have two pairs for a future project for my 4P1L or 2P29L.

Glad to hear! I like the engineering on them, the way they "pinch" the pins to ensure a decent connection each time is similar to the loctal socket on my AVO. HAT used similar contacts on their PTFE sockets too.
The cheaper China jobs have little round tubes for the pins to enter - I had a few odd "contact" problems with them after a lot of use on a test bench.
