LM3886

Hi, I just got two LM3886 from a PA speaker. Do they look genuine to you?.
Maybe I'll do something with them if they are worth it.
Thanks.
- Bruno.

Mr. Tom's amps are first class if you want an LM3886 for sure and probaply some of the fines A/B amps around, DIYS or "buy it finished" (is this called BIF?).
The problem for Multi X Bruno is, that the money to build one of these from Canada, will build a house in Romania. At least a small one...

Lm3886 Done Right boards cost 39$/piece,
“With some careful parts scrounging, it is realistic to complete a stereo LM3886DR with power supply and home made chassis for less than $200.”
I would buy all the 200$ houses on the Romanian market .

This was just a joke, I think even Romanian housing prices are rising. Anyway, a Euro still has a very different value in many European countries. Romania is quite "price sensitive".
I don't know how many people understand, that a high developed product from a boutique manufacturer, made in small numbers, in a developed country, can not be as cheap as a Chinese board.
You can not compete with these guy's there, that have not seen a university from the inside and still struggle with Ohm's law, but can use some "uncle" to get such hardly correct copy's of a developers board made. From the cheapest parts available on the planet, with the most underpaid workforce in the world, producing the worst pollution in history.
The bad thing is, these higly integrated TI or NS designs, work well even quite well within a basic design and low quality parts. So the audible difference is not instandly noticed, as there is nothing to compare.
You only know what you miss if it is taken away...

I think most people around here are smart enough to understand this. In fact, a while back I ran a market analysis here and people indicated that they would be willing to pay more for a circuit board made in Canada than one made in China. Some of them said they'd pay quite a bit more. So I think you're underestimating how many understand that you often get what you pay for. The quality of the boards I get from my Canadian manufacturer is vastly better than the (good) Chinese manufacturer I used to use. On top, each board is tested electrically by the manufacturer before it's shipped to me. This ensures that the board will work well in the customer's hands. That adds value too, right?

That said, not everybody has the ability to pay. That's the case both in Romania and in Canada. Germany too... Such is life. I can't be expected to solve every social injustice out there.

Sure. If you follow the data sheet recommendations and have a reasonable PCB layout you'll likely get good performance. I provide a lot of help for those interested in doing that here: https://neurochrome.com/pages/taming-the-lm3886-chip-amplifier

I've also participated in more "Is my LM3886 layout any good?" threads than I can count so you'll be able to find help there too.
