Well it's a long way off (September). I missed it last year, so I'll probably try to go this year.

This is merely fashionable at the moment.

Is AC heating fashionable?

If you don't have any hum while using AC then why not?

On DHT triodes using DC will definetely change the sound,I mentioned this before it also changes the plotted curves.

IMO,the main advantage of using AC is the preservation of the heater to cathode relationship.

Adding sand devices in the heater circuit will often have a sonic impact,improving on S/N and bass performance,hence to many ears make them sound more sandlike.
