I can't leave this little tube amp I built this week alone.....Got up early this morning and replaced the crappy volume control with an ALPS 100KAX2 that I received from Parts Express yesterday. Had to make a little "tombstone" for it as it was much larger than the stock VC.....Also swapped out two of the tubes with NOS tubes. Lowered the very slight buzzing to near nothing. Waiting for two more I ordered to arrive to do the other channel. Still loving this little 8 wch, $100 amp!

10GV8 tubes....No direct replacements. I found eight NOS and bought them all.....Because the tubes are 'Unobtainium" , s5 Electronics, discontinued this kit and replaced with another. I bought this one of a fellow in the classified section. I guess he had it in the closet, unbuilt, for years. BUT, The owner of s5 had a massive heart attack a few days ago and passed away. So sad, a great guy and a real friend to the tube amp community. Kathy in his office is liquidating the company. Not sure if you can buy anything at the moment. Might want to contact her through the web site.
I think the European eqivalent might be called XCL85. Anyway, if you're able and willing to modify the heater supply, you could replace these »unobtanium« tubes by plain and cheap PCL85/18GV8's or PCL805's. Their heater is 0,3A/18V. So, a laptop brick will serve well.

I'm being sent instructions on how to modify it to use 11MS8 tubes.....I believe EU is "L"CL85....
»L« is a 450 mA, »X« a 600mA series heater. For this tube this would mean, starting with 18V/300 mA for the PCL85, hence 5.4 watts heater power: LCL85 = 12V/450mA, XCL85 = 9V/600mA. I think 9V is somewhat closer to 10 😉.

Nothing wrong with your calculations but it seems that the 10GV8 is indeed equivalent to the LCL85. See the picture and the RCA datasheet.
Strange that this tube is called "10GV8" while the heater voltage is 11.6 V. Why not "12GV8"? Or even "11GV8" if they wanted to make it clear in some way that the heater voltage is not the usual 12.6 V? As far as I know "12GV8" and "11GV8" were never adressed to any other tube type so these designations seem to have been available.
