Little Question About Psone Lcd Vga Mod

i got an original psone lcd ( pal if it matters )
and im starting to plan my first projector
and i got a little question about the vga mod

if i do the vga mod ill still able to use the av/in jack ( rca ) ?
or is one disables the other?
not simultaneously of course

the reason im asking is because i got a dvd player
but i dont got a dvdrom in my pc
so it will be much cheaper and easier to connect it when i want to see a dvd movie instead of buying a dvdrom 🙂

thx in advance 🙂

Yes - the problem is getting a video card that will work with it
- I do computer work - and have lots of video card - none worked

pluss you need to use a shareware program to set the video card
to 15hertz - If you find one that works

They do sell a video card that works - its used for
arcade monitors - but its like $90 or more

yeh i know it wont work on all cards
but i got a radeon 9100 so it should work on it
and i got some more cards i can try

i dont know what u mean about the 15hz thing
i havent heard of it
as long as u got csync supported on ur video card u should be fine
and if u dont got it u can build a simple circuit that should work fine...

thank u very much for the answer
i hope u are right
can anyone else reply so i know for sure ?
thx 🙂

It does need to output 15 kHz Horizontal Synchronization
"hsync" or around that - knew it was 15 something hertz

I will make the TTL Sync circuit - I cant make any card I have
seam to work - I tried about 10 of them - as a second video
card in a PCI slot

I use the PSone LCD in my bathroom to watch tv - it has the
VGA mod, and I still use it every day with the AV connector
on back, because I have yet to find a videocard that works
with it - Just dont use both at the same time

I will make that circuit - but I am lazzy

hey guys i just finished a psone based pj

i tried for quite long to get the vga mod to work and it did work but only on the primary and not on the secondary which was not exactly desirable... i have an ati radeon 9800 pro and my vga mod was done in samsung service center (tft section) (my cousin heads the place) he out right said the native reso is not 640 x480 and the effort won't be so worth it in the end morever if

you get the latest drivers for ati (without catalyst control center) they have included a new setting in the tv mode called "video mode" which you will find only when you switch to 640x 480 ... try it ... the text is very very readable and i compared two psone displays side by side one with vga mod and one with out..and finally concluded its not worth while to go hunting for a vid card to run the damn thing cause i want to be able to play games on it too.
only thing that irritates you after the pj is finished is the screen door .which is visible from all distances.but shove in more light so the colours are good and if the movie is really good you will get used to the screen door..will post a pic with text

Just thought i'd add a link as well. http://starfox.ucc.asn.au/carcomp/serio_lcd.htm This worked for me on 2 different psone screens. I've also got them to work on my Radeon 9800 pro on the secondary out(dvi->VGA) and my geforce4 MX440 on the secondary out (composite). Looked better for text, but nether looked any better playing DVD's. IMO i would agree with projectile not with all the hassle for a native res of 320X240 lcd.

I never played it through a dvd player, just off my computer through the composite out. Which was just as good if not better than the VGA mod. By the way this is a projection at about 60" anything bigger was way to pixelated.
