Please visit Little Tube's website to find out who are authorized resellers of their products: http://www.little-tube.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=65&PN=1

That's all I'm going to say about that. I like Wai Wai

Sasha,
I'm not disputing whether you're an authorized dealer. I'm simply informing others that the product is *alot* cheaper in HK. For those that can read Chinese, the manufacture list price is only $1280 renminbi (1 renminbi is about same as 1 HK dollar). I don't know whether Wai Wai is an authorized dealer, but the T100 is available in a lot of places in HK for the same price.

Wow...

I see the what you are talking about. I went to the site myself and google says "1 280 Chinese yuan (CNY) = 165.027139 U.S. dollars"

Thanks for the info. But I found out that I just paid $223 USD for something that cost 688 CNY ($88.70USD).

Oh well. Still a good price for the amp..... I think.

Hi kevf,

That price on the website has to be updated. It's not accurate. It's going to be adjusted shortly according to David Z.P. (the gentleman we negotiated our distribution rights with)

As for other unauthorized resellers in HK, Little Tube is "actively trying to find out how they source their Little Dots (i.e. which B&M supplies them) and shut them down"

I have no intention of competing with unauthorized resellers who source their goods illegally & do not provide any warranty. Believe it or not, my margins are already very slim.

Cheers!

I email little dot

Here is the reply when I brought up the price issue.

"Unfortunately due to the weight of the Little Dot T_100 the shipping cost to the USA is nearly $100 for EMS expedited with insurance. Add in the full warranty and it arrives at the price I quoted you. Please also be aware that except for Obad Imports, any Little Dot T_100 purchase that is not logged in our sales records will not be warrantied or supported due to it being considered from an unauthorized dealer. "

This actually checks out when I try and make an order. I can save $14 by ordering out of the US but there is no warranty.

I just recieved this amp and will have more to say later. But for now I can say there are some positives with respect to the sonic output of this unit and there is also plenty of negatives with respect to the fit/finish and overall cosmetic presentation of the t_100.

Let me burn this unit in for awhile before I give a detailed overview of the performance.

Also be advised that my unit arrived with the optional tube stage but did not have CV131/EF92 tube setup as described in the specifications on the Little_Tube forum. It came with CV138/EF91 tubes..??

I'll get back with a review in the near future.........

Elmont

Hi kg4icn,

Just to clarify a couple things for you and other potential buyers of Little Dot products as I think you may have misinterpreted David's email:

You in fact would save $$ by purchasing out of Canada (I guess you thought we were in the US) and your unit would be covered by the full warranty because we are an authorized dealer.

Thanks,

The tube buffer is odd. They use an RF pentode. Wonder if that can be changed?

I believe this to be common with Little Dot products; that is, they use "oddball" tubes in places where a twin-triode (i.e. 12ax7) would traditionally serve. For example, I use to own the Little Dot 2 headphone amp which used an 1S5, a diode pentode, which was originally used in battery powered portable radios.

I wonder why the designer chose the EF92/6CQ6? For one I appreciate the creativity of integrating much cheaper tubes into a usable design. Nevertheless, I await reports on how this unit sounds.

I received an email last night, from an authorized sales rep and moderator of the Little-Tube website, stating that the technical specifications for the T_100 was in error and would be corrected asap.
The optional tube pre-stage for the T_100 will be equiped with the EF91/CV138 valves.

Grrr- I have on order some EF92 tubes for it. My T-100 should be here in the morning from China but I have already been charged and the tubes shipped out from Russia. Too bad they are the wrong type... I guess I got a little happy while waiting for the amp. Should have waited to get it in my hands first.

I thought people might like a report on how the T_100 sounds. BTW, this comes from my contact at Obad.

Out of the box, the unit sounded a little "thin" however, the soundstage was
wide and full (like the TA-10) and the details were all there. You could
hear those little nuances that Tripath is famous for. After about 10-20
hours the bass is a little thicker but still not enough for me. I don’t have
a good speaker match though: celestion impact 30's, 90 db, 150w, 3 ways.
Those speakers were sufficient for the Trends TA-10, but this amp needs a
pair more substantial..I'll be doing a lot more experimenting!

I got mine today. Haven't even fired it up yet (it's a 220V model, so i need to run power to it).

Nice heavy transformers. The PCBs look good. Wiring is OK, but certainly not "Audiophile" quality.

The input section is an Analog Devices OP275 op amp and a "pot on a chip" from Maxim. All the control is on the back of the display board. The tube section has some big caps in it, and is using odd radio pentodes. Don't know how it's used yet.

I'll be mapping out the signal flow then starting mods over the next few days.
WIll post my findings over in the Class-D forum.

preamp output

Hello,

I am by no means a DIYer so forgive me for asking silly questions.

Is it at all possible to modify this unit to add a set of preamp outputs? this would allow to use this unit with subwoofer/satellites set up.

Nothing new

Hello

This new tripath amplifier seem really interesting. I was hoping to read some news about it, in particular by Panomaniac 🙂, but I did'nt found in forum nothing new. I read about everything about t2024 and t2020 and this t2022 seem very intriguing.

Somebody had the chance to try it?

Thankyou

I have this amp for a few weeks now.

Please keep in mind that this is my first exposure to tripath based amps so i cannot really compare it to others.

i am not a DIYer, i have no clue as to quality of parts, upgrade options, etc. In fact i only opened my unit once to make sure that tubes are well socketed.

I tried the amp with Von Schweikert VR-3s and ACI Protege V speakers (both are 86db, 6 Ohm sets). I would imagine there are many other more tripath friendly loudspeakers out there.
However I felt the amp was able to drive both speaker sets fairly well.

I did not have any problems others reported - both tubes arrived undamaged, no hum, hiss in either bypass or preamp mode.

as far as sound i did not care for preamp section at all, however in bypass mode the amp sounded really nice. i did not hear characteristic SET sound others have reported for tripath based amps, however i found it very detailed yet musical. The lack of SET sound signature can be explained by the fact that the amp is much more powerful than most class-t amps as well as by my choice of speakers.

i am going to return the amp after 30 days trial period is over. when i bought it my hope was that it could take place of my separates, simplifying the system, however as integrated amplifier the unit was not up to task - lousy volume control and power buttons, cheap remote, questionable tube buffer, etc.
while it is nice as a stand alone amp, my Belles 150A is a better match for the rest of my system
