I thought it might be handy if we had a list of products using the tripath chips. It might make it easier to find stuff to mod, and give those who want more power the options for it. Please feel free to list any other products you know of in your replies, or if you have more information relating to the products below.

Here's what I've found so far:

Sonic Impact 5066 (2x 5-15w amplifier, battery powered):

Hi Guy's,

I'm a new member of this forum and thought i'd let you know that i've just built an amp from 41Hz....it was the AMP1 90w and it sounds fantastic....Jan who runs 41Hz is a nice guy and very helpful...for about 40UKP or 58 euros it's a bargain.
It was my first delve into building my own amp and to say i'm pleased is an understatement.

Thanks for the input, Tim. I'm really wanting to pick one of these badboys up. Maybe two 😀 I already have so many unfinished gainclones, though. Damn him for making a tempting product.

I'm just blown away by the 2x 300 watt tripath kit for $89 + shipping.

Might be a nice starting point as it includes a cool chassis!
Doesn't look like you can actually buy one though...

Also prob has a switching power supply.
Sure seems like it would be a great PA amp though.

Edit:
this amp the 9340 uses "spread spectrum switching array" -Is that Tripath?

There is a 6 channel version also the 9360

If I would have known about 41hz.com before I bought my sonic impacts, well....... I wouldnt have bought them.

My thoughts exactly! Oh well 🙄 the SI is at least common ground.

I've been emailing a bit with Jan over at http://www.41hz.com Seems like a great guy and understands the circuits well. He is planning several more versions with different Tripath chips. He has nice looking custom PCBs made over in China.

So here is a good one:
When I buy my next amp it will be from 41Hz.com. So the Tripath chip will come from Malaysia, the PCB from China, they will be shipped to Sweden were Jan will put them in a box and send them to me in Hawaii.:xeye: Who's making the money here? Just might be the shippers!

I dunno. The Sonic Impacts are nice for a couple of reasons -- namely they're battery powered, so you don't have to worry about mains voltages, and they're cheap.

The amp kits that 41hz is selling don't include all the parts required. You'll still need to provide the power supply, and likely you're looking at another $100 or so, plus a chassis and heatsinks.

Still, the amount of power provided is pretty dang impressive.

It is true you have to supply the PSU and heatsink and case....but the heatsink is very small....i used just a piece of aluminum and it's not even getting warm....very efficient these little modules...and case can be expensive as you like....the sound is certainly worth it in my opinion.
I will be back to Jan for somemore...bi-amp....multi-channel amp.
All i have to do now is find a suitable case for it....is there anyone in the U.K that knows of a place i can get a decent enclosure....RS, Maplins not to my liking....there does seem so much more choice over in the States.

So much to do so little time....i know what you mean Motherone...but it'll be worth it.

When i saw them and after having read about the Sonic Impact and not being able to get my hands on one i thought i would give it a go....and i'm hooked!!!

Go for it.

Of course you can buy them, I bought mine about 1.5 year ago for about 1000$, not so bad for 4 channels. However, UcD and even ZAPpulse sounds better than this tripath. But I found the MArantz Tripath better sounding then my Accuphase E407. So the Marantz is not so bad, it has more noise than the Accuphase though, and also for more noise than UcD.

Best regards
