Good Evening. I have a pair of Linn Tukan Speakers which the dust caps have a few flaws of pushed in dimples. I want to replace the dust caps and give them to a friend who can use them? I measured 1.5 inch’s across from dust cap from side to side glued on the drivers cone. This is my first time doing a reply of 2 dust caps but, willing to jump in and get it done. I would like to see if I got the measurement right before I order the new ones? Thanks for your help. Jm
Maybe a quick search against repairing dented loudspeaker dust caps will provide some help. Sometimes it is not necessary to actually remove and replace the dust cap by the clever use of a vacuum cleaner or sticky tape, or applying gentle pressure in another position of the dustcap.
I am guessing the Tukan is a plastic cone with plastic dust cap, so be very careful if the fix involves heat.

So mine Have a Harden paper mix and the dust cap is rubber. It’s dinted in on the sides and I tired to fix it but, it’s to soft. I just want to replace it and give it to a friend of mine. That’s all no issues with any of the driver’s. I have all ready tested both of them for a hour each. Jeff
Hi Jeff,
Have you tried a few different sized strips of parcel tape. Too small and they peel off, without bringing the dent out, next step move up to a slightly bigger strip. Be gentle but forceful if you can.
Have you tried telling it, it is a bad mid-woofer, but you can forgive him on this occasion if he is good and returns to his proper shape, and then he can go to nice new home.

Hi Raymond, Yes am pretty sure I tried the tape trick. It’s just odd? It seems the rubber dust cap will not move back into shape? I would have never used rubber for a dust cap. Everytime I tried pulling the dust cap into place it just makes a bigger indentation on the other side of the dust cap. This is why I like paper ones. I wonder what Linn audio was thinking? Lol. Yes I’ve tried this but, he’s not budging.🤦🏼

Can't see how this woud affect the performance of the woofers much. They are budget speakers after all. Just put the grills back on so you can't see the dust caps.

So I installed a 5 inch woofer. A little different make up from the poly coated woofers. Paper drivers with foam surrounds. Sounds different anf still breaking the new drivers in. Soldered wire to drivers and screwed in place. They are very shallow and compact. I will be playing them a lot in the next few weeks before I give them away to school that needs a set of speakers. From the Queensland Speaker Repair webite: "To Replace, measure existing Dust Cap and choose the next size up"
Tape should be applied right on the inside of a point of the actual fold, nearly on the fold edge itself; then by pulling move the fold edge a tiny bit toward the center. Is that what you tried?Everytime I tried pulling the dust cap into place it just makes a bigger indentation on the other side of the dust cap.
