Can any of you ladies and gents tell me about the various types of Linn Basik tonearms out there?
What is difference between LVX and Linn Basik Plus?
How do they compare with Rega RB250?
Thanks
Tom

I have a Rega 2 and Thorens TD160 with the original arms.
Which Linn Basik are you using with the Rega?
The RB200 is a heavy S arm that I rather replace and the TD16 has some broken wiring and hums.

Linn Basik Plus. The R200 arm is not bad. Mine came with a cheap Jelco .

Hi,
The original Linn Basik was the LVV, an S-shaped detachable headshell arm with a chrome-plated arm tube and standard "SME-fitting" headshell collet. The bearing assembly resembled the ADC ALT-1.
The LVX had a different (more robust) bearing assembly, still with a detachable headshell, but the black anodized arm tube was straight and the diecast headshell was secured with a hex head bolt.
I have owned both, and the LVX was much better, though I don't think either arm would be very happy with the more demanding types of cartridge.
The Basik Plus was a fixed-headshell development of the LVX. It also had better bearings. I think the first version of the current Akito might have been a further development of this arm.
HTH,
