Linn Axis TT, auto-return?

Hi all.

I'm thinking about buying one of these (Linn Axis). I know it is a manual turntable, but I'm hoping that it has an auto-return to stop the platter and return the arm after playing a side. Can someone please tell me if this is the case?

Thanks!

Without doubt, any manual turntable sounds better than auto return becuase you dont have all the auto return arms, levers and cogs rattling around under the plinth....

Well, that is not entirely true. Most good auto tables like the thorens use an optical sensor ofbsorts. Nothing physically touches the arm until the end of the record. I know because I have had a td145 arm apart. Its actually a good system...cheap stuff, yeah...it can be bad.

There arent many good auto return tables. Thorens is probaly the one exception.
You can rip all that auto return stuff out of them and make them sound even better.

To answer the OP, Buy the AXIS!
(edit - I read that the axis psu can fail - better read up on that before you buy it)
