Linear X LEAP

Hi Gents

So I've been lucky enough to get a cheap copy of LEAP 5 from a company that went into a liquidation.

Given that this is a fairly expensive piece of software I doubt that many people on here are using it?

Does anyone know of any good online tutorials for LEAP? I wasn't able to get the manuals and although they appear as PDF's on the CD-ROM they're not exactly "average user" friendly

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,
have you registered your copy ? If you have, you can log onto the forum. There are a lot of very helpful people on the LinearX site. They might be able to point you in the right direction. I found someone to write me some code so that mine would run on 64bit systems.
As you point out the manuals aren't exactly user friendly, the tutorials are good but the knowledge that you gain from them is limited by the nature of the tute. The advanced user manuals are required reading, but they are very hard going. These programs have a very steep learning curve as the LEAP designers aimed them at industry professionals.
TTFN,
Peter.

Thanks Peter.

I opted not to register my copy as it is in effect 'second hand' and I assumed it had already been registered.

I have just found a fairly nice tutorial on modelling transmission line speakers on the Linear X web site.

I'll keep trawling google for now unless anyone else has some input?

Thanks

Chris

Leap5 is the software design package--enclosure shop is the box design program, and crossover shop is the crossover design/simulation program.
It is totally independent from LMS(loudspeaker measurement system), and the newer LX500(not sure if it has hit the market yet, and when it does, get ready to whip out $2,500, I think).LMS is the actual system that takes the physical readings using a mic, and tells you what your speakers ACTUALLY are doing...raw data, not speculation/simulation. You use the LEAP5 to get into the "ballpark," and use LMS to dial in the that first approximation of your LMS design to bulls-eye.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Regards,
Barry
