i want a device that will cut the signal of the line out on a guitar amp without changing the tone as much as possible. i tried running the line out on a fender super champ xd into the preamp in on a fender princeton112. this was to get more volume out of the 15 watt super champ. but the signal was too strong. I then tried running the signal through a guitar eq pedal with the volume cut and was better but still a bit too much. my question is this can i take the controls out of an electric guitar (mount in some type of box)run the line out of the amp into the pickup input on the guitar controls( i realize the signal is way stronger than that of the pickup alone) then run the controls output to the preamp in on the amp?
Since this relates to a guitar amp and not hifi I have moved this to the Instruments & Amps forum. I think you'll get more useful responses in the appropriate forum.
Make up a jack lead with a 100R resistor across it, tip to ring. That will cut the level from high to low and won't affect the sound or the Champ. The line out has an internal 1K resistor and will not see the 100R as a problem.
