Is Mod Podge water based?

Can anyone comment about solvents and deterioration of the joint between the rubber surround and the paper cone over time because of use of an organic solvent based product?

Dave; I saw a product called 'Puzzlecoat' at the local craft store the other day. Should I quit fooling around with rubber cement and use this?

Dave;

Thanks. I will get some.

I saw a product called Puzzlecoat. I don't know if it was Puzzlecoat brand, but that's what it was called.

I could buy some and say I was buying it for you and I would certainly be willing to do it but I'm not sure it would actually help you all that much. I'm in North Carolina and You're in BC if I recall correctly. I will be in Seattle over Thanksgiving but I will not have time to try to smuggle it across the border. Closest I will come will be Apex Washington.

Aside:

Inmate 1: What are you in for?

Inmate 2: Puzzlecoat smuggling.

Inmate 1: ?

End Aside.

Is it that hard to come by that you can't just look for it on the internet and get it shipped to you?

If it is that difficult (1), and if what I saw was actually what you want (2), and if you can't order it on the internet (3), then I would be glad to get you some and ship it to you.

It is just that i haven't seen the puzzlecoat brand for 20+ years. Couldn't find it last i looked on the internet either.

A good picture, an address, and a website is more important than getting some itself. I've lots of modpodge.

You could use it as an excuse to go visit Tim in Seattle... leave some with him, and next time he is up (Nov? RAW get together) he can bring it up (or pass it on to someone who is coming up) -- sort of the diyAudio bucket brogade (maybe better do a case, if one disappears at each hand off i might actually get one 🙂). But i'm guessing it is probably more avaialable than just NC.

I love the idea of the diy bucket brigade.

I did a search right after I posted my reply and sure enough I wasn't able to find it either. I saw it at an A.C. Moore craft store that just opened here. The closest one to Seattle is in Erie, PA and they don't have their inventory on the 'net.

I remember using it as a kid although why you would puzzlecoat a puzzle is beyond me. We ended up with a bunch of coated puzzles taking up shelf space. They are much more easily stored in a box.

When I go back to A.C. Moore, I will check into it and if it is the real deal, I'll get a quote for a case quantity and we can go from there.

Puzzlecoat vs Modpodge? Dave is there any differance? If so which is better. There is an A.C. Moore craft store down the street. I didnt see puzzlecoat but this is the place where I got the ModPodge.

It has been a looonnnnggg time since i've seen puzzlecoat. I've been using ModPodge & treating it as if it were the same thing. The Podgy i bought from LewisCraft is quite a bit thicker and -- unless it was a quirk or from sitting around (unlikely)) i'll not get it again.

There are also various flavours of modpodge... i like the normal glossy. I've also used the stuff with sparklies in it (on a well torn 12" whizzered FR) and it was kinda cool.
