Lilliput 7" VGA --> *all* safe for DIY or not?

LCD: Lilliput 619GL-70NP

I've read several things about this nifty little lcd.
Some good, some bad.

IS there a way to find out that the lilliput you buy will be usable for DIY-ing? Or is it a guess?
I'm asking this because I heard things about some lilliput lcd's that can't be stripped easily.

Also: I only found this lcd, which has touch-screen. How/where can I find the non-touch-screen version?

Ace_3000:
Is there a way to get the exact same lilliput you bought from a Spanish store (or wherever you bought it 🙂) through shipment to Belgium?

I think this lcd would be perfect since my current case design could house an elephant 🙄

thanx!

Heya declined this is where i got mine from, it is easily stripped without any problems, i dont know where u heard the lilliput cant be striped but this model can and its the same place where i got mine from, the touch screen is an optional extra its not a standard feature u have to pay extra for it to have touch screen so this is a non touch screen version.

Stripping Lilliput 7" VGA

I've been reading this forums for about two weeks and I just want to say thank you to all the people who are willing to share their hard work. I think I'm ready to start my own project soon and I wouldn't have even considered to do this without everyone's help on this forum. Thanks again to all who contribute it is much appreciated.

Hey Ace,

I'm thinking about going with the lilliput 7" VGA and I was wondering if you could post a step by step procedure of how you stripped that lcd and if you could post pics that would be great. Thanks

someone from the german DIY community shows how easy it is to disamantle a 7"Lilliput:

OMFG!!! dont do it like that! lol thats asking for trouble, u dont want to lay that red flex cable out flat! or it will break from the lcd lol also u dont undo the widest ribbon cable from the lcd reciever u undo it from the controller! trying to get that back into the lcd receiver is harder then putting it back into the controller pcb, not only that but that data chip on the lcd's receiver is exstremely sensitive to static electricity and u dont want to handle that much at all or u will have a dead lcd, that data chip is so sensitive its not funny, i have a lilliput here for repair because it was touched and was subjected to static.

I'm looking to have a lilliput shipped to belgium from ebay US.
Not sure yet, but im very tempted 🙂
One thing tho: is the 200:1 contrast ratio enough to get a real good image?

BTW: it wasnt really the lilliput-stripping that was the problem, but i *think* i heard the lilliput could have another lcd panel inside? Other than the hitachi?
But then again: i'm not really sure

🙄

Lilliput LCD is great lol. Just gotta make sure your gentle with it. I ****ed mine up with static electricty lol. Too bad killed a good unit, i didn't even damage the ribbon and it dies lol. So don't forget to ground yourself before touching the freaken thing. Also I hate ripping off the plastic on it, had a hard time doing that, I seem to have bad luck with plastic lol. Good luck to all.

Here in Holland the lilliput is sold for 159,90 euro. Thats cheap and you don't pay extra tax for importing it!

look for the topic on european shops, you will find the shop there!!!!!!!

Heya multi the spec's are:

Native reso 800x480

Compresion upto 1024x768 but ive had mine on the one above before and worked fine.

Colours, 265k 18bit enhanced to 24bit

Responce, 30ms

brightness is 400nits

contrast is 200:1

Multi no joke this thing run normally on vga is hell clear, it makes all images come to life compared to a crt, its about 2-3x clearer then my crt monitor and dvd's look real lol. You dont realy want to run it above 800x600 cos things get too small to see in xga especially text lol.
