R1 is in parallel with a ceramic cap labeled 104. Yes R1 was connected between shield ground and chassis ground.
Well I replaced R1 and added sockets and all new op amps in the preamp section today.I tightened everything back up and made sure there were no shorts between any of the center legs and the heatsink and I fired it up.I'm happy to say I finally have clean and solid output from this unit.The only problem now is that I don't have a proper set of rca inputs in this amp.I robbed them for another repair when I had given up on this thing and now I am having some trouble locating a good replacement.I purchased some from mouser but the chassis mounting hole is just slightly off and the actual pinout of the rca input is slighty different as well.Is there a place to find some of these without having to buy thousands of them?
