Those may be real LU1014D, but they obviously had their legs reattached - most probably cut out / removed from old equipment. Comparison with genuine parts here... Also, it seems the 0329.3 batch must have been ENORMOUS, as most* of the pictures you'll see on Ali / eBay show that particular [date] code. Again, could be real LU, but most probably resanded & remarked. On ebay now:
Are these real? They have 96 left at $14. each. Somebody should get them quick if they are real.

Two pieces here, are they real?

* Except the one linked by @adason, which shows an LU manufactured by International Rectifier... 😀
No...in the UK.Way more expensive in Romania in fact...Maybe in Romania, but not in the USA.
Well, I picked up a Pioneer SA-508 for $10.99 this morning and figured that left at least $20 to throw away if they're not real. Just bought 10 so we will see. Plenty left...The ebay listing linked in post #13 is for 10 pieces at $13.88 USD for 10 = $1.39 each.
Anyone can still get LD1014D for pennies each from AliExpress.

Those aren’t the difficult ones to get.

Great thread idea but it would be maybe better to start another one for the harder stuff to get like SIT (V-FET) as output devices or inputs like the 2SK79.
The LU1014D or LD1014D is the easy stuff to get.
Just a thought.

Wasnt it Edison who said (something like) "Genius requires persistence - and a good pile of junk"I was bicycle guy, visiting scrap yard at least twice per week
I ordered 10 as well, will test when they arrive and fingers crossed, they are genuine. The ebay listing linked in post #13 is for 10 pieces at $13.88 USD for 10 = $1.39 each.

Well this is just too funny not to tell....
I was reading thru SIT data sheets and looking at the applications....which got me to thinking ...I may have some of these devices right here. 😱🤔
So in my amazing collection of crap I have amassed over the years, I will have enough to keep me busy this weekend tearing apart the following:
3 and 6 KW Power One wind turbine grid tied inverters
2KW Sungrow wind turbine inverter
2KW wind turbine battery charging inverters
4KW UHF TV transmitter from the 90's, perfect working order, removed from obsolete site.
100W Nautel airport beacon transmitter
There could be a few other things to tear apart also....this is what happens when you have 20 acres of storage. 😎
I'll let you know what I find.
Cheers

I forgot about this one, earlier this week I remembered I had a few of these kicking around, decided to pull them apart for the heat sinks and found these semis inside....could they be SITs......nope, SCRs. Damn!BC is a little far from Montreal but I wish I was near you, having to disassemble stuff to do a treasure hunt is so cool.
Have fun doing it 👍
12 heat sinks though, and some nice aluminum plate.
Cheers

Rumor has it that SIT parts with the right curves will be available in the future![]()
One might dream of Linear Systems doing the LSK82 and the LSJ28!? But the market must be much narrower than for the 170/74 small signal JFETs. After all, it’s a Bruno Putzey world, we just make Class A amplifiers in it.
Once upon a time it was a CD 16 bit world that evolved into a 32 bit and DSD one and now we rip vinyls on cassette decks 🙂After all, it’s a Bruno Putzey world, ....
Yes, that is do-able. I will check my inventory, I had considered a DIY F3 type of essentials kit for the store, but I probably have much more than needed for that.for LU , all you need is to organize GB and buzz Pa

Ihe problem I have run into here in Canada is that once consumers haul their electronics to the recycle depot, they are gone to other salvage companies. I have asked if I could have a look at some of the recycle goods. That was a very firm " no way".
Most garbage dumps do not accept electronic's, so I am not sure where to go for salvageable parts. I have been relying on my neighbors and flea mkts, for salvaged parts.

Try getting a part time job at one of these recycle depot..😀
I’ve also tried looking around and I got a firm NO and a dirty look. For them to behave this way they must get a nice payback..I guess.

Perhaps it was RP Electronics on West 4th Avenue? I used to go there and rummage through the surplus parts. I bought many motor run capacitors there for my tube amps. When I lived in Vancouver in the 80's and 90's, I was building many tube amps and our little audio group had a few favorite recycling places, before the word recycling was being used....One shop in particular always seemed to have tons of MIL surplus, xfmrs, tubes, sockets, wire, metalwork, 2 floors to choose from, a never ending selection of everything we needed to scratch build amps. Those were fun days.
That and good restaurants are about the only things I miss being in the big city, much prefer the country life now. 🙂
Cheers
That was certainly one of them, the one I was actually talking about was satellite electronics, do you remember Peter?Perhaps it was RP Electronics on West 4th Avenue? I used to go there and rummage through the surplus parts. I bought many motor run capacitors there for my tube amps.
