Let's pool our resources to find some used SITs, power JFETs etc

On ebay now:

Are these real? They have 96 left at $14. each. Somebody should get them quick if they are real.

Two pieces here, are they real?

Those may be real LU1014D, but they obviously had their legs reattached - most probably cut out / removed from old equipment. Comparison with genuine parts here... Also, it seems the 0329.3 batch must have been ENORMOUS, as most* of the pictures you'll see on Ali / eBay show that particular [date] code. Again, could be real LU, but most probably resanded & remarked.

* Except the one linked by @adason, which shows an LU manufactured by International Rectifier... 😀

Well this is just too funny not to tell....

I was reading thru SIT data sheets and looking at the applications....which got me to thinking ...I may have some of these devices right here. 😱🤔

So in my amazing collection of crap I have amassed over the years, I will have enough to keep me busy this weekend tearing apart the following:

3 and 6 KW Power One wind turbine grid tied inverters
2KW Sungrow wind turbine inverter
2KW wind turbine battery charging inverters
4KW UHF TV transmitter from the 90's, perfect working order, removed from obsolete site.
100W Nautel airport beacon transmitter

There could be a few other things to tear apart also....this is what happens when you have 20 acres of storage. 😎

I'll let you know what I find.

Cheers

BC is a little far from Montreal but I wish I was near you, having to disassemble stuff to do a treasure hunt is so cool.
Have fun doing it 👍
I forgot about this one, earlier this week I remembered I had a few of these kicking around, decided to pull them apart for the heat sinks and found these semis inside....could they be SITs......nope, SCRs. Damn!

12 heat sinks though, and some nice aluminum plate.

Cheers

Ihe problem I have run into here in Canada is that once consumers haul their electronics to the recycle depot, they are gone to other salvage companies. I have asked if I could have a look at some of the recycle goods. That was a very firm " no way".

Most garbage dumps do not accept electronic's, so I am not sure where to go for salvageable parts. I have been relying on my neighbors and flea mkts, for salvaged parts.

When I lived in Vancouver in the 80's and 90's, I was building many tube amps and our little audio group had a few favorite recycling places, before the word recycling was being used....One shop in particular always seemed to have tons of MIL surplus, xfmrs, tubes, sockets, wire, metalwork, 2 floors to choose from, a never ending selection of everything we needed to scratch build amps. Those were fun days.

That and good restaurants are about the only things I miss being in the big city, much prefer the country life now. 🙂

Cheers
Perhaps it was RP Electronics on West 4th Avenue? I used to go there and rummage through the surplus parts. I bought many motor run capacitors there for my tube amps.
