This music is amazing, such energy & optimism flow from the notes.
Viva Vivaldi!

My recording is St Martin-in-the-Fields, 1972, which sounds like you're in the concert hall, but I wonder if anyone can recommend a German recording of this music? Recordings I have of other Baroque music made in Germany seem to have a richer, more full sound, the violins are closer... they seem to have recording techniques for large ensembles nailed.... (& the musicians who can get that sound too, of course)

I agree completely about the music!

I don't know of a German alternative to Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, but I would suggest Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante's version (on Virgin) for a very different (and more exciting) approach and sound.

You might well know this, but just in case: the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields also recorded Vivaldi's La Stravanganza, and it, too, is lovely. Its sound and approach is similar to that of the L'Estro Armonico recording. A later and, to my ears, very fine alternative comes from Rachel Podger and Arte dei Suonatori (on Channel Classics).
