Hi, I have a Lepai LP-2020a+. One day I hooked everything up and turned on the amp and the left channel was no longer working.
There is a faint thumping sound that comes from the speaker, sort of a muted version of the signal being played. The right channel works perfectly. If I have only the left channel connected and the volume knob is turned sometimes a loud thud will come from the speakers.
Based on this thread I think it could be the output transistors as suggested. I was able to locate 6 transistors on the board (labeled q1 through q6). After googling how to test the transistors, all of them had continuity in every direction on all pins. Except one had no continuity on one of the pins regardless of the orientation of the test probes.
I did not remove the transistors to test them, perhaps that is the problem.
I also feel like the problem could possibly be the relay that was added to this model to prevent the power on thump.
However I could not find information on testing the model number of the relay in the amp (HK4100F-DC12v-SHG).
I know I could very simply replace this but I love learning about this, and if I am unable to repair the amp I will simply buy a new one.
Any further help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
