Lenco L70 plinth rebuild

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

after 2 years of feet dragging, i finally finished my plinth for my lenco L70.

its a mdf and ply sandwich. 6 layers of 18mm mdf and 6 layers of 3mm ply. inbetween the bottom most layer, i used 3M double sided sponge tape instead of the ply.

the plinth orignally sounded very lean in the midbass. a rubber and steel washer combo to place between the 2nd and 3rd layers helped to fatten up mid bass. placing this spacer too far up made the mid bass sound too fat, too far down and it sounded too lean. spent an afternoon tweaking and i found that placing it inbetween the 2nd and 3rd yield the best balance

i am thinking of taking it down from the rack and placeing it on an ikea lack table.. any suggestions?

Arrrgggghhh.. I hate 'teaser' shots...

Congratz that you've finally got to the point of being able to listen, and from here the journey begins 8)

My plinth is made of three layers of birch plywood and two layers of beech plywood that are glued to each other. This provides a little damping because of the different materials in the layered structure and it provides a lot of mass. Sounds quite good.

It is important to glue the layers together.

For more questions, I would refere to the lenco-lovers forum

im having alittle trouble with the counter weight. i need to make a circular weight with a threaded hole in the middle so i can adjust the vtf without loosening the screw..

i'm thinking of a ply plinth next.

got myself a lack today and i am not very impressed. not exactly a fanastic table for the lenco.
