Hi, I have some LEDs I would like to have turn on when my Icepower amps output 1volt of music (like my Yamaha p2500 does)...how do I do this?
How do I make the LED come on to show I have 1 watt going to my speakers?NOT directly at the output please!
There are plenty of LED meters available on ebay etc.
The LED can not be driven directly by the amplifier output.
Instead an op amp circuit with a power supply can properly scale the output signal.
The circuit works on voltage, not power. You provide the scaling so that the
indication can be interpreted as power.

So if I understand this correctly... I could use one board and hook up a led to whichever LED postion I want, correct? Could I also power the the board from the IcePower aux? There are plenty of LED meters available on ebay etc.

You'd have to determine where to take the +/-15VDC power supply from.
The application may also need the Full Wave Rectifier and Preamp which is also shown
in the article. Bear in mind that one complete circuit per audio channel is needed.

Sounds like it is going tobe complicated for me to have 6 of these in the single amplifier case. I might have 5o come up with another use for a single LED for each amp module asthe LEDs are already installed in the machined faceplate now.
If you only want a single LED peak indicator there are many other possibilities, here is a simple one.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't these speaker connected devices cause problems with amps running BTL? The "black" connection isn't 0 volts (ground), it's the inverted voltage of the "red" connection.

Yes, the circuit should be connected at the input just after the volume control, not the output.
Calibrate it accordingly.
If each circuit is individually floating and battery powered, or with individually floating power supplies,
each on a separate isolated secondary, then it could be connected to the output.
