LED in cathode

i'm working on a 6BF7 (submini dual triode) preamp using the second half as a CCS for the plate load. got a gain of 30 out of it, but was thinking of biasing the cathode with an LED. i'll have to try it on the physical prototype, because LTSPICE doesn't seem to like LED biased cathodes on the 12AT7 model (closest i can get to a 6BF7)...... it seems that SPICE treats the LED junction as a capacitor until the diode conducts, so the cathode voltage changes in steps until it gets up to the LED voltage. strange.....
