Hi, All
I have been in working on led PROJECTORS for years. Now I found the best way to make an LED projector.
1. a true LED projector with only 19 watts CREE XLAMP LEDs
2. the efficiency is more than 85%,and the uniform is more than 80%
3. The brightness is better than ALLY PTV01, MUCH MUCH BETTER. But to speak truth, the brightness is only 150 ANSI lumens;
4. The image is good. You can see the following pics.

can you post some projected images and pictures of the internal of the projector that uses these LED's?
I'd like to see the uniformity especially
Thanks!

What are the mechanil dimentions
length , whidth? Is it RGB module or white one.Emiting angle of each led. What kind of metal is the PCB , aluminun or copper.Thank you.

About the collimator
The width=69mm, the length=79mm;
I use the cool white LED from Cree, Q4, and Bin=WA,WK, and WB&WM is also good.
the emitting angle of Q4 from Cree, is 90 degrees. My collimator can collect 85% of the lamps. The efficiency is much much higher than other so-called engine.
I use the Heat-pipe cooling system, and the Aluminum MCPCB.

the image of my led
the uniformity is more than 85%
1. the middle, lux=86
2. the corner, lux=64
3. the ansi lumens, more than 140 lumens

Thanks, for your reply, very profetional .The 79mm lenght ,does it include the heat sink + led module +all the lenses? The reason for asking is , can that module be fited inside projector. My two projectors are more than 79mm long, but i'm not sure ,whether you mean 79mm total(all components). Is it this module for lcd or dlp?
that looks really nice indeed! It would be great if you could post some pictures of the actual projector, the insides of it as well as some images
The fly eye lens seems quite interesting indeed. Also, using Q5 LEDs could increase brightness as well
Thanks for the posts!

hi
Look, this is what the engine is.
The dimensions of the engine is: 20CM*20CM*10CM(W*L*H).
The LCD panel is there, I use the 5" 800*600 LCD panel.
yes, I can use the Q5, but, for Q5, the color temp bin= wa/wk can not be found. so, Q4 is better, though it is 9% less brighter.
check it.

More pics by myself.
1. The uniformity is OK,
2. The environment brightenss is about 6 lux, I turned on a desk lamp behind me.
3. No screen on the wall again, just white wall.
4. an copy DVD popular here in China.
5. I use auto mode( I do not know how to operate an camera), while press down the flash light (not let it flash when taking photos).

Looks like it will not fit in a commersial projector, to big. But it is a nice desing for small lcd panels.
you are right,
it is not for a DLP or 3LCD projector case.
but for home use, or DIY , it is perfect.
For this engine, we can use 3.5" LCD, 5" LCD, 6.4" LCD

very nice pics and interesting design. I wonder if this would ever be designed for larger panels = more led's = more light but also more expensive i guess.
How about if thiss can be design for small 3lcd comerciall projectors. One can buy cheep 720p 3lcd whit broken lamp and retrofited whit led module if it is done write. 3 lcd panels is vastly superior to 1 panel.
Now it is 19 Led LAMPS.
The total output of the lmap is about 4200 lumens
with the same engine, we can make 31 LED lamps, and the total output of lamps is about 7000.00 lumens.
with a larger LCD panel, the brightness, you can calculate youself. The result is that: The image will be as bright as entry-level DLP projector( with so-called 2000 lumens peak brightness, but the dynamic image is only 400 lumens. 2000*70%*33.3%=466 lumens).
This brightness, for home, basic office use, is OK.
For those 3LCD projector, this engine can not be put into use. There is an optical theory: The lights can not be condensed as you want. That means, the intensity of the lights is decided by lamp attributes. Only high brightness dot-light-source can be used for small LCD panel.
If one day, one LED can produce 5000 lumens, 3 LCD projector can use LED as light source.
Hi, the guy from South Africa, I am dreaming of going there to watch world Cup!!!!!!!!!

We're very excited for the World Cup. Just like China had hosted the Olympics Beijing 2008, it is the same type of excitement gathering
As for the projector, you make some interesting points. It would be nice to fit a 12.1" screen with nice LEDs and nice large fly - eye lens
I can't tell from the pictures, but is there any "hotspotting" caused from the LEDs or is the lighting very even?
How many LED's could cover a 12.1" screen, dimensions 262mm x 158mm viewing area?
Also, could you post some of your pics at diyprojectorkits.com forums? I think the community would definitely be interested to see your results
Thanks!

Oh, Great!
Hope your people can host a wonderful Cup for us all!
1. The uniformity is more than 85%. You can judge from my data listed above.
2. No highlighted spot anywhere on the screen. This is the function and advantages of the flyeyes. There are 2 pcs of flyeyes working together, (back on back).
3. Tks for your suggestions, I will go there.

Thanks for your anser. But again there are alredy LED projectors whit LED modules. LG 160 lm, SAM 150lm, benq 150lm , all RGB LED modules. That is no bad.If used whit higth gain screen, almost perfect. There are very good reviews at avs forum. Vivitec ,Delta ,Benq will be seling this year 1080p whit 800-1000lm DLP and LCOS projectors. That makes me think, that, there has to be a way of retrofiting a commercial projector, even if the light engene is outside but atached to projector. What do you think?
