you'll want to run the regulated front end higher - i just offered the 65V I used in my A75 as an example.

Just plug the resistor values and voltage into ohm's law to determine current and power. at 90V rails, using 12.2K (10K + 2.2K) for the voltage divider gives you 7.4 mA, => I^2R gives you .54W in the 10K, .12W in the 2.2K. You can either use 1W resistors or change the values.

you'll need a ~16.5V reference using 10K and 2.2K. Bumping the 10K up to 20K would allow you to use a 9.1V zener to get around 92V and decrease the power in the voltage divider slightly.
 
I started on a SuperLeach a few months ago etching my own boards. I just never could get it to work. I still have it all set up so that hopefully I'll get smarter someday and be able to figure out what I did wrong. :xeye:

That is why I have been following this thread. Jens' Low TIM was so easy to build I figure buying his boards for this will be a slam dunk. Acenovelty just started a thread about the Superamp he has been working on. Quite clever how he hooked things up. almost no wires.

Anyway, once Jens gets this PCB designed, I'm in for a pair.

this may sound weird but besides outdoor PA, i also wanted to use this amp indoor, home theater, house party (w/ my kids just for us to have fun on weekends together), and of course... new years day😀 While picking which amps to build I came to find Lars Clausen high powered Zeta - but Lars doesn't seem to support his high powered version. Quasi's high powered 90V design is very attractive - and quasi's kind enough to share to diy community. I may be new in amp design but i want the best i could get from diy time and money. The super leach is well documented and succesfull for diy'ers- thanks to professor Leach.
One day, I will try quasi's high powered design and use super leach power supply, who knows maybe super leach for mids and highs then quasi's high powered mosfet for bass...

Not a Super Leach (more a Mini Leach !) but…., here is my “Low TIM” PCB arrangement. All devices are onboard (except for the bias diodes, which are in a tight thermal coupling, but that’s another story) including four TO 264 BJT’s. It is single sided for ease of DIY. It could probably be easily converted into a Mosfet design (another thread!). It also carries MikeK’s dual slope SOAR protection scheme. Although I use 47 volt rails, tests on the actual assembly (distortion, square wave response, clipping behaviour etc) all come up to expectations, at least to my test heatsink limitations, about 23W.

if you were able to get your low tim up and running after the burn-out, you sure can get the super leach amp going.

you can do it! all diy'ers have their fair share of failures, otherwise they do not learn at all.

looks like you are looking for a high powered setup. good liuck, i suggest you do it ala pro, using nuetrick speaker connections, xlr or phone jack inputs. it is safer that way.

I'm sure I just have a a bad or wrong componant in there somewhere. I've revisited it a couple of times but couldn't find it. The outputs are not getting enough juice to turn them on.. I've got the Aleph X finished and only a couple of finishing touches to have the second KSA50 complete. Maybe even today. Once that is done, I'll try and dig back into the Superamp. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and find it this time. What would be cool is if someone could run the circuit through Spice or something and give me the voltages for the leads of all of the devices. I could probably find the problem then.

and c6 and c7 in your leach low tim ? just noticed that orig. schem. by leach doesn't have this.


Hi Roland, the purpose of these caps are to couple the amplifier AC.
Think at 10uF MKP parallel with 0,1uF .
