hi,
very nice indeed, glad to see that you are still on it...that revision leads to many possibilities, like use of TO-3's for instance.
are we going on agroup buy? i am excited......
😀
Hi,
if those pins were at 0.1inch pitch then a SIL header/socket could connect the PCBs. Nice & easy plug in, or hard wired & soldered, or left connected, or two SIL sockets and two SIL plugs for a flexible connector.

break away pcb
With this design the driver board could be mounted away from the heatsink. How will this effect the tie in for the diode string mounted on the heatsink. Makes for a lot more options in chassis layout. Tad

Ooh, that would fit nicely in an old chassis I was planning to have to work up my own board. 😀
I wish I had the time to organize a group buy. Any takers? (assuming Jens has the time and motivation to finish up this idea)

you're the man Bob.......
😀
can we get something going please?😀
Hi Jens,
yes, They look like some version of SIL connector. They are obviously rigid, but could be flexible or even direct daughter board plug in.
What is the pin pitch of flat cable? Maybe leave alternate cores disconnected or guarded to minimise capacitance etc.

I've been involved in several group buys on other forums (Head-Fi, headwize) and feel confident in my ability to handle the logistics of running the buy.
HEHe. Poor Jens 😛 Our fate is in his hands..
Honestly jens, I hope you don't take our interest as if you must work on this project. It's not fun if you feel you must complete it just because.
I hope you can see our interest survey more as a good reason to work on it, some kind of economical profit can be made and you will ofcourse be our hero for the next millenia. 🙂
I also want to point out that I don't think no one here is in a hurry. It will take the time it needs.
With the current amount of interested people I believe a lot of knowledge will be exchanged in this forum once everyone starts building the things. Choosing the components and the performance of differents units etc will be troughouly discussed. I think this can be a really good DIY project for a lot of people.
Ha det bra Jens och ta det lugnt. Känn ingen stress 😀
