The LCR meter i purchased has very short leads(about 3" long), can you use longer ones as it makes it very difficult testing things unless they are taken off the board

Most have short leads for obvious reasons (etray capacitance/inductance for one).
If you extend the leads, the accuracy may be compromised.
I use a DE-5000 with short test leads. Components mostly cannot be measured accurately whilst still in circuit, so not a problem for me.
Some have a DIL socket with no leads. Generic photo of mine attached.
