hi, im trying to repair PSU of my LCD monitor. It does not power up. i checked the board and found one mosfet(stp3nb80fp) was fried up. i replaced it with sss5n80. but still theres no power. does anyone know how the switch on of SMPS work? and how to determine if the driver IC is bad?. I cheked the gate of the mosfet and its getting huge DC value, shouldnt it be AC current. The driver IC seems to be TY72011P2 and i cant find the datasheet anywhere, please help
u need a scope to check the signal at the gate of the mosfet.
its a bad idea to fix smps without a scope.

According to http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread/t-57223.html is the TY72011P2 the regulator itself (not only the driver).
