I stripped the "anti-glare" filter off of a screenpad LCD. After a while of getting no picture, I started to think maybe the anti-glare filter is also a polarizing filter. Indeed it is.
Is there a cheap source of clear polarizing filters that don't add a really heavy tint to the display? I'm trying to keep as much light going thru this as possible. My application in this rig isn't a normal setup to watch, I'm putting it into a club light so the thing projects digital images (Moving mirror type).
I ruined one display, won't make that mistake again 🙂 I'm going to try one with the polarizing + anti-glare filter on it.
IIRC, reflective LCDs generally have much clearer polarizing filters.

Camera shop
If its a small LCD you should be able to use a standard camera polariser. These filters are available at any camera shop.
Typical use is to take sun glare off scenic water shots.

I figure without that dark polarizing filter I will loose alot of contrast, but absorb much less heat.
