Hey ham_anegg,
Have you noticed any macrovision when using the VGA signal of your panel? I was just wondering because there was no macrovision turned on when I was using the VGA signal of my polaroid 3000 before. But then one day all of a sudden there was 🙁 . And man am I getting tired of this crap, macrovision is SO annoying. Good thing my future Xdude will remove it though 🙂
And as always, taku starts babbling about other things... 🙄

hi there takusama,(xdUDE, WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT???) as I said I haven't got the OHP yet, so can't really tell if there is any problem with it. But since you know I'm a newbie, you have to tell me...what is macrovision? I connected the panel to my computer and looked through it and it displayed no problems at all from what I could see.
Hey, the quick one, if you go onto ebay.co.uk, and search for projection panel you my find different ones than the ones available on ebay.com. If you see any that may interest you, let me know. Most people wont ship to the usa over here so if you find something you like at a good price, then let me know and I can buy it 4 you, and get it sent on if you wanted. At the moment there is a 3M 6450 and 4180, infocus 5000cx and a megashow c3200.
Take a look. good luck, and dont stop scouring ebay.com for bargains. Also, you say you've got an xbox, r you gonna sign up to xbox live? I plan to if all goes well, let me know if you do and we can arrange a match.
What about you takusama? gamer or not?

Umm I can't really explain what macrovision is because I'm not really sure what it is exactly. I think it's a copy protection sceme and it kind of makes the damn LCD change brightness every few seconds, like a pulse. It lowers the brightness....and then it raises the brightness...and then repeat!!....SO ANNOYING >_<
Hehe Xdude is just my way of not wanting to say Xbox 😉
I don't think I am going to get live though, I will mostly use my xBOX for playing movies instead of my loud PC and also for emulators.
emulators, eh? I take you're a fan of the old style games then. Me also, although I've kept my old consoles, like megadrive, amiga, neo geo pocket colour, I tend not to chuck them out, for sentimental reasons more than anything else really.
what games do you emulate?
what games do you emulate?
Hehe, I have all my old consoles too.
-2 Commodore 64's(w/ tape drive, ext. disk drive, broken 300 baud modem, and a whole stack of c64 warez)
-1 Commodore SX64("portable" version w/ built in 5" CRT)
-1 Atari 2600(semi-working condition only a few cartridges)
-1 NES(w/ 6 controllers of different types, multi-tap, and power glove)
-1 SNES
-1 Sega Genesis(w/ Sega CD, Sega 32x)
-1 Sega Nomad
-1 Sega Saturn
-2 Original Gameboys
-2 Game.com Systems(one pocket, one regular)
I have some newer stuff(PSX, N64) as well. I don't quite consider them old enough yet. I love old games. I use emulators a lot, they're great. Sometimes at lan parties we play 2 player NES games with the network support in FCEUltra. I also emulate N64 games on the PC, they look so much better!

Well, let's see. My mom broke my old nintendo 8bit console when we were moving so I lost that one. Someone borrowed my big brother's sega megadrive and never returned it so we lost that one. I usually played Super Nintendo at my friends house so I never bothered to get one of those 'cause I was too young. All I've got left is my imported N64 (US) , my imported Dreamcast (JP) and my imported Gamecube ofcourse (JP).
Edit: Oh and how could I forget my beautiful Spicy Orange GBA?! That thing has kept me alive for some time now!!
I don't play emulated games that much, and that's one of the reasons why I'm actually getting an xbox, simply because I miss those old and beautiful games pumped up with gameplay and memories...ah the old days..where did they go?

ever remember a game called 'rainbow island'? ah well, thought not. I'm surprised you haven't got a Neo geo pocket colour, they're much better than GBA's. I've bought a game for it and am hiding it away so that it will increase in value. and boy, will it.
P.S Get broadband and then xbox live, it'll increase your gaming potential, being able to talk to other people while playing along side them
Cant wait for sony handheld system, the psp

You mean the one for Amiga when you shoot out those rainbows and stuff and the cool music? There was also a rainbow island game on the nes and even on c64 (I think).
Hmm I've always been a poor SOB so I couldn't really afford NGPC, it's pretty cheap now though maybe I'll get one and hide it somewhere 😉 .
I'm not planning on getting Live because it COSTS, I avoid anything that costs if I can, and this time I CAN. There's 2 other free "Live" programs that I can use for my games. So I guess I am going to play online a little (especially with my emulators), but I'm not getting Xbox Live though 🙂 .

haha well thanks for basically taking over my thread guys... oh well, at least you're all havin a good talk about your classic gaming systems, but im still looking for a nice LCD panel!!

Xbox live costs? maybe in sweden, but not in the uk. All you need is broadband. thats all. then buy a starter kit for about £40 and thats got you a years subscription.
P.S Yeah, buy a NGPC, but keep the box. I've been looking for a game called pocket reversi. boxed with instructions, its worth more than £150!!!! beat that for a profit.

Macrovision
Macrovision is a copy prevention scheme that modulates the automatic gain control circuit in vcrs and some tvs. The picture appears to flash, alternating between dark and light. It can easily be defeated by a dedicated demacro box.

Re: Macrovision
Thank you for the links. Bad part is, none of those things have a VGA input&output. I don't know if they should but as I said before, my panel actually has macrovision on the VGA signal too (Maybe my panel is just ****** up though -_-).
Good part is, the xbox I ordered today will remove any macrovision I'm experiencing right now (hopefully)

so you've ordered an xbox have you? what did you get with it? for how much? did you buy it off ebay? I bought mine off ebay about 4 days ago, and it comes with 6 games, 2 controllers for only £115!!!! thats about $190. Its only six months old as well.
I got the s-video cable for it at a cost of.....wait for it......£0.01. yes thats right, £0.01, not bad eh?
Takusama, what kind of bulb in your ohp are you using? I should be getting me xbox and ohp tomorrow so I was just wondering. Also how are you going to connect your xbox to the panel? s-video?
I bought my polaroid polaview 3000 for £100 last week, quite a lot, I know, but it's immaculate with its case, manual, remote, and leads, all original. Should sell well if I decide to upgrade to a qa-2500 next year.
Is there any tips I should know about when using the panel, since you've had yours for a while know, id there anything I should know

I bought my xbox (new) for about 300dollars, I know it's quite alot of money but it's pre-modded and everything, still pretty expensive though. But that's Sweden! 🙂
And because I am going to use my Xbox as a DVD player/Game console/avi,vcd,svcd,ogm (pc formats) movie player and all that, I felt like I needed REALLY good cables. So I decided to buy a High Definition Xbox to VGA cable (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i compatible). This way I can really be sure that the quality will be superb

Here's a link if anyone's interested.
I am currently using the crappiest halogen bulb EVER as my MH kit from Alan is taking alot of mini-vacations on it's way here

I just hope I get it soon so I can fully enjoy my new setup 🙁
Oh and kcsabresfan,
All I can say is OH MY GOD. I can't really describe to you how much I envy you right now...SHOW OFF!!

so how is that x2vga thing work then? how is it going to connect to your panel and yer computer? whats that about its specs. 480p, 720p, 1080i? what does that mean??? does it mean you have to have your pc on then to play it on the projection? explain? I'm confused..
Also, I plan to hook up me xbox to my home theatre amp. As I said I got a s-video cable that aslo has the red and white audio connections. But when I think about it, how on earth is that gonna work with the polaroid 3000 because obviously the wires are far too short to b able to divert the red and white cables to the amp. Is there some sort of red and white cable that extends the length of the wires. Otherwise, how will I set it up? any ideas?
P.S MY pc isnt going to have anything to do with the projection unless i want to watch tv. Any help is much appreciated. thanks
