LCD display for Marantz

Thanks you information about the LCD sources.I had brought some LCD and OLED but seems not working with my cd player. Here are some photos and schematic.

That last photo looks like fluorescent to me, not LCD. Or OLED.
From the schematic, it is obvious that the unit has processing built in, so a series of signals is converted to display by that.

It seems to be working.

The way to build one from scratch would be to decode the signals, and interpret using a Raspberry Pi /Arduino / PIC or similar small unit, which will then display the information.
Not my field of expertise, sorry about that.
You can buy another good quality unit for less than $100, and many CD / DVD factories are closed.
The drives themselves are an option or are not installed from new computers.

Bear that in mind.

I've also tried to locate the replacement display to no avail.....🙁

I made modification to the display of my Marantz SA1-S1 quite some time now....

IIRC, I measured the V0 voltage and this fluctuated a bit and corresponds to the contrast of the display. What I did was to forced a voltage of about 5.7V using a 6V regulator (78L06. Need to buy a few to check for the correct output voltage) to the display connection where the RY10 and V0 are located. To reduce the current, I added a 1K ohms resistor. I guessed the V0 - V4 are the biasing voltage for the display that feeds and control the contrast of the display

This resolved the display flickering/display-off issue. Unfortunately, this will disable the contrast control available from the SA11-S1.

It works for me until now. 🙂
