Layout of PSU stages

Hi folks

I'm building a PSU for a phono preamp and am unsure how to arrange the various stages.

Obviously, the transformer comes first, then the rectifier, but how to arrange the next three stages - capacitor bank, then voltage regulator, then ripple eater?

Mains > switch (live) > fuse (L) > EMI filter > inrush > transformer > rectification > inrush/surge control (caps) > reservoir caps > regulator > filtering (various types) etc
Put crowbars, fuses, current limiters and filtering as needed.

My advice is if your uncertain then use a predesigned/built power supply.

Very much dependent on the pre circuit. If it is an opamp like LM833 or discrete transistors, which need more and low noise filtering.
Best quality in both cases are 2x9V 500mAh rechargeable LiO available at ebay with micro USB connector on the end. Easy to implement.

I didn't mention the socket, switch, fuse and filter as those are prerequisites and it is the portion downstream of the trafo I was concerned with.

I already have the various parts built, I was just not 100% sure what order to place them in.

The circuit to be powered is a Boozhound phono preamp.
