Just struggled across this: Amazon.com: USB 3.OpticalTM Cable, A plug to A receptacle, 10 meter: Industrial & Scientific
Although not marketed as an USB isolator, it is one in fact. Don't know about the price though. And it should work with USB2 devices.

I find it funny that you didn't notice that there hasn't been a post in this thread during the last TWELVE YEARS!

The cable provides no galvanic isolation. I had the same misunderstanding before.
