large caps/torroid for super amp?

I'm building several Leach Superamps and would like to hear any recommendations for a good capacitor for the power supply. I'm planning a 60-0-60 transformer so total rail voltage wont be over 100v. I want something very reliable and high quality, since the goal of this amp is for many years of service. I think i want around 20,000 uF total, it's a mono amp.

I also need the aforementioned transformer. I've gotten a quote from http://avellindberg.com/ but I'm not too sure about their quality. They are certainly inexpensive though. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a quality high-current toroid? I'm looking for at least 60-0-60, center tapped.

Avel... audiophile quality? I wouldn't know that for sure.

The quality is very good and the value is great. They're quiet and reliable. They ship on time and the product arrives in one piece.

I am certain you could spend 3x the price. I am also certain I couldn't hear the difference.

Hi,
I recommend +-2mF/Apk.

For an output of 80Vpk into 8ohm that is 10Apk. This would need about +-20mF driving 8ohm.

For 4ohm duty you need to double this to +-40mF.

Some recommend as high as 3mF/Apk. I have seen 10W/mF recommended.

Avel and RIFA, ok.

Hi
These capacitors will last longer than the amp, RIFAs Long life can electrolytics. Best available electrolytics, recommendable:

22000mF/100V:

85°C:, y.d. 75 x L 115 mm Irac /100Hz: 25.4A (85 degrees) ESR mohm/100kHz: 6. # PEH169PU522VMU2

105°C: PEH169PV5220QU2 dimension: y.d. 75 x L 145 mm

Regarding Avel, they are a former supplier of transformers to KRELL, should have the experience for to make good transformer for audio application.

Regards 😎
