know that in those thousand pages of this forum there has been written a lot about the usage of laptop tfts. but maybe the more experienced users could sum the key facts up for the newbies out there (like myself).

i have some questions in mind that maybe a lot of the newbies have. like how can i use laptop tfts for diy projectors, which tfts are more usable than others, what do i have to keep in mind when dissembling the tft or what do i need to attach a vga or s-video source.

thanx.

Laptop TFT's have too low contrast (usually 100:1 -> 300:1), they are too slow (response time is usually more than 35 ms) and they use varying interfaces (parallel TTL and LVDS are most common) and therefore need special controller for VGA or composite video.
