Would be interested in what you guys think of this compression driver: COMPRESSION DRIVER MODEL 1 - Lamar Audio
Apparently it is a replacement for the Western Electric WE555. 115 dB sensitivity from 50Hz to 5kHz! The company seems to produce only this single driver and I haven't been able to find it stocked anywhere...

Interesting but what diameter is the diaphragm that can reproduce frequencies as low as 50Hz? The VC is only 2" and exit 1.4".
Hi. it can do 50Hz, why not? its all relative ...
It was measured in a german magazine. Got to see if I can find it again. It was scary close to WE 555 performance, almost no difference.
It got carbon fibre instead of the aluminum diafram. Behaves civiliced over breakup mode.
The surround is tangential mylar, similar to Goto Unit, if remember correctly.
The phaseplug is like Altec Tangerine.
Response was of course influenced by the horn, same as distortion.
If it was half the price Idve tried already 🙂
Think its about 1500 Euro per piece.
Still compared to WE555 its a bargain - but using neodymium magnet you can expect that.
cheers
