Hi all!
I started reading this interesting thread, but after 17 pages I decided to check how long it was.. 770+ pages!

Anyway, I'm very interested in this project.
Are there any boards left to purchase?

I own a KSA-50S, which sounds very good, but is acting up a bit (some noise break-through). Has anyone here compared the 50S to the 50, or 50-clone?

Regards

Actually I have been in the field the last two weeks and have had very spotty internet access to AOL. Some areas of Wyoming and Montana that I visit twice yearly will never have AOL access. While on the road I have communicated back with some of those that semeed to be the "more desperate' souls.

I have ordered another 100 KSA-50 boards. These boards will be made on .062" material instead of the .093 of the first batch. This may help with the component hole tightness a tad bit. These boards will be available in a few weeks time but I am not accepting any orders till I have them in hand. I always order them the cheapest route which is 30 day delivery time. This saves $$ for all of us. Even though this is a smaller board order by oging with the 30 day lead time, thinner material, and not having to do protos again the price will be able to remain the same. I will make a post here to let all know as soon as I have them in hand.

I am awed by the interest that still seems to be gaining in this project. Most other projects peter out after the first group buy... this will indeed be the third buy for KSA-50 boards!!!! This may never end....... but thats ok.

I still have a bunch of KSA-50 boards available, probably in excess of 75 and am expecting the KSA-100 to arrive boards very soon. If you can find adaquate heatsinks and trannys I wold reccomend that you go the KSA-100 route as its quite a bit better sounding amp and there should be at least some extra boards available. If not the KSA-50 is certainly still a very worthy build.

Anyway... KSA-50 boards are $14.00 each plus shipping of 12.00 to England all U.S. Funds. E-mail me off site for more info on both boards.

OK, thanks Mark!
I'll now have to do some research into the differences audio-wise and price-wise for the two projects. I'll read up starting from the Wiki, and get back to you.
(To my suprise I recently discovered that my old KSA-50S sounds better than my FPB-200 in my current system, so I don't automatically equate later with better...)

I'll sift through the threads, but if you Mark, or anyone else wants to elaborate on the audible differences between the two clones right here, I would certainly appreciate it!

The transparent mid-range and natural treble (cymbals) is what I really like with the KSA-50S. I guess it is possible/likely that the improvements in the KSA-100 were carried over to the KSA-50S... (Any KSA-50S schematics about?)

HI
I have a brand new Plitron toroidal transformer 2X30V 1KVA .
I ordered these from Plitron , I planed to use to build the Krell KSA-50 clone .
I changed my mine , I desided to build the KSA-100 , I have large enough heat sink so why not . If someone want to order transformer from Plitron you can pick up mine and you don't need to wait 6 weeks .
I still have my populated KSA-50 PC boards to but first I want to see the KSA-100 how will come together . After maybe it will be available for sale .
Regards

So, now I've finally placed an order for the small signaltransistors and hopfully I'll be able to pick them up later today. Tomorrow begins the not-so-funny work of desoldering the old ones from the board. I just hope that I'ts only the MPSA-transistors that are at fault.

I've spent the afternoon dismantleing my klone and placing all components on a bit piece of wood to make the troubleshooting a bit easier. Later I looked at a bookmark and noticed a thing in Post 6120 by pinkmouse.

To specify:
PSU grounds, bridge grounds, speaker grounds, driver board ground, main board power ground, main board signal ground.

main board power ground AND main board signal ground. I must have seen wrong because I thought that those two where connected on the board and because of that I only have one groundwire running from the powerground to starground. The signal ground runs from the RCA-socket to the board but it ends there.
