That is a massive and beautiful collection, thank you for sharing.

I being an INTJ, it drive be batty having pictures hung that way plus without a seeming theme, by the way. When had to move to a place just over half the size, with less than half the wall space, didn't have the wall space for my art collection (most inherited, some by my paternal grandfather), so did one gallery wall and desensitized.

Is that a Kodak Duoflex? My Great Aunt gave me hers knowing I was interested in photography. Shot a roll years ago and now find no one processes Fuji color slide 120. One day get the funds saved up, get the equipment, and develop then print my own black and white film, did it in High School and miss it terribly (especially printing); nice thing is now more compact options including loading film into the tank in daylight (versus in a light tight booth). Plus, gotten very expensive to have film developed and only one place here in the valley. I now have five Olympus OM cameras, Dad's OM1 from Okinawa (have all the paperwork) plus two others he had and know would not have bought for himself so a mystery (he wanted to only use a simple camera), plus the two OM2 series I bought in my early University days. Also have Dad's fixed lenses and my zoom lenses, again bought in my early University days; most special is Dad's 500mm mirror reflex and reminds most of him and good times we had at airshows (and now knowing how much he paid understand why protective and how special it was for him to let me use it).

What I really love to purchase is a 2x3 field camera, but that is way off, of course after can develop my own film.

A ratio detector is just one kind of FM demodulator circuits. Perhaps it has been the most common one here in Europe, while in othe parts of the world a phase discriminator might have been more usual. Both are easily discerned by the diode polarisation. In a phase discriminator both diodes point in the same direction, in a ratio detector they're opposite. There are more differences, of course 😉 .

»Ratiofilter« was a very common denomination of the last IF strip filter in German radios, probably because post the EABC80 era both germanium diodes and resistors shared the same can with the resonant circuits. Only the small electrolytic was mounted outside.
Most of this not quite understanding, though might not help had a colonoscopy this morning.

All I get is the electrolytic capacitor, which looks like C505, is mounted outside the can.

Speaking of diodes, doing some research, find germanium diodes can become leaky, is there a method of testing you recommend?

He is a good friend. A real character.
Neat.

Picture on the website definitely a younger Buzz, can see they are the same person.

That pic of his upstairs is only a small subset, just a pic i had handy.
I thought you were saying it was your place, thus my response. Oh well, killed time, wasn't allowed to do anything strenuous.

The theme of teh pictures i believe is, what people gifted him over time.
Figured there was, just not seeing it.

… and i was going to say that Buzz collects old funky things, so the camera could well be what you suspect.
Looks more like a camera collector, looks to be some folders in there too. Never understood collecting cameras just to sit, some of the vintage glass gives wonderful attributes especially for portraiture and still-life. Trouble is, the Duoflex is not a true twin reflex, so not seeing exactly what the film sees.

Firstly, still alive, a little more busy now feeling better. Would you believe a friend's home made yogurt seems to have been at least a temporary answer? Still though, like to be on a maintenance medication as do have GI inflammation (colonoscopy was on the 5th). Secondly, been thinking on the advice given and before put in an order, make a longer term plan. Still fighting the insurance to get back on TRT, another blood draw in a month. USA state funded insurance is absolute rubbish, have the understanding Europe is far superior, why taking over a year to get some progress.

How out of it am I? Went to grab the engine timing tools, then remembered they are all 12 volt and Ruby, Dad's 1964 Beetle, I converted back to 6 volt. So, took it as an opportunity to practice soldering using the vintage low temperature solder (used it before with a low quality iron with analogue temperature control, easy to melt, and understand if vintage and not labeled, it is low temperature, even modern spools don't have temperature marked).

Seems to me I am sadly right the iron is defective, not much today is built any good like used to be, as ran though the temperature settings in 25*C increments, starting with 125*C. When at this setting, put into a small amount of water, will oddly boil it, seems the error is logarithmic. See, not until 500*C touching the solder directly to the iron melted it, 700*C takes a long time when soldering to an item, and since doesn't burn paper, set it on junk graph paper and checked on supper. Even a low wattage, low temperature iron will burn wood, did wood burning art when in my early teens.

With the modern solder, I set it to 950*C and it works okay, this vintage will work decent at 850*C, if was pressed for time, go up to 900*C setting.

Anyone know how to correct this?

Is there a way to modify the circuit so will put out a higher temperature?

See, I bought it on a recommendations, then my health took a nose dive, so long since out of warranty. If not for these recommendations, would have considered this a junk brand and looked for another, better, brand.

Still need to improve my soldering skills as can be seen, bulb is temporary until can find a socket and bulb like that used in amplifiers, and was a royal pain in the you know what to tin and solder, partly holding it. First tried my mouth but my mustache was getting in the way and then hit me use masking tape to secure to the table.
