I have a BIG tube(G.E. JAN-5948). any idea what it is/ what it's worth?

The tube is a hydrogen thyratron. It is used in many high powered Radar transmitters.

I belive "imix500" on this website has a shematic for the JAN-5948
but It is for a "Thyatron display" goodness knows what that is, probably a light show thingo.. 😛

think of it as a very large very high voltage very high
current scr. Absolutely useless for audio unless you
intend on using 4 of them as a primary switcher for an
audio amplifier in the 100kw range.

Yup I have one just like it, except yours is in a bit better shape, probably a newer build. I just have mine set up to glow, with a 200w load across it.
