klipsch promedia replacement

i have been a follower of klipsch's promedias ever since their release. My original 4.1's amp blew some kind of circuit during heavy use while out of warrenty. $50 and a trade in later i got a new replacement box/amp. then the 5.1's were released and i had to have them so i traded my rma'd 4.1's plus $300 in for a new set of 5.1's. The 5.1's have since stopped working but are under warrenty so i'll be getting a brand new replacement set (free!) after i trade in my old unit.

I can either plug the new replacement set in and hope that i dont have an eventual breakdown for a third time, or sell it a little under market price and score some decent coin to build myself something that sounds potentially much better.

i will probably be able to get about $500 or so CDN for them, can anyone suggest a worthwhile project to pursue within that budget? 2 bookshelfs and a sub would be fine, but desk space is limited to 6"x12" or so per side of the monitor. I dont mind adding to that a bit (budgetor size) if i can add to SQ dramatically with bang for the buck.

My only other real DIY project is uncompleted (waiting on cash to get a sub amp from solen for a 15" W-frame dipole sub i'm building) so my experience is a little lacking. also i listen to a broad range of music and appreciate the ability to play the low notes as well as the highs (accuratly.)
