I got a pair of Heresy II's that I noticed the tweeter breaks up sometimes, it's not all the time but it is really annoying. I recapped the crossover with sonicaps and that didn't help. I took the tweeters out and measured resistance and visually inspected. I don't see anything wrong but there has to be due to the poor sound quality.
I was thinking of replacing the tweeters with some titanium ones from Bob Crites. Has anyone had experience with these new tweeters?
My stereo is 6L6 SE putting out about 5wpc, it sounds great through my Cornwalls but I need space and would like to use my Heresy's.

Are you sure the issue is with your tweeter? you can disconnect one of the tweeter leads and have a listen and see if the problems goes away or remains. The ti tweeter diaphragms Bob sells are superb. buy them use them be happy. you could also clean all your contacts which would not be a bad idea. Celean the screw terminals as well they can seem tight but still be oxidized so take them apart clean them and re assemble them make them tight. You should also consider switching to the ti mid diaphragm from Klipsch they are astounding. good luck best regards Moray James.
Cool thanks for the advice. I saw on Bob's site he was cleaning out the magnet gap of the mid-horn with a sticky note (K-53 Diaphragm Replacement | Critesspeakers.com). Maybe I have some dust built up in there or something.
I have cleaned the connections with deoxit and that didn't help. I might just call them at Critespeakers and see what they say. When I ordered crossover parts I talked to Bob and he is a cool dude for sure.

Heresy II is a multi-way speaker system so I moved the thread to Multi-Way.Not a bad thing to do checking the gap but it is not likely you have contaminant in there. You could re flow the solder connections to your drivers but better to know which one has the problem. For the small entry price of the ti tweeters simply buy them from Bob and switch them out now as there is no contest between ti and phenolic. As nice as Bob's phenolic mid diaphragms are they don't touch the Klipsch Ti mid diaphragms which are well worth every penny.
Find out where your noise is coming from so that you will know what to do, it could even be a woofer issue but you won't know till you check it out. If you are going to be buying and shipping parts you want to make sure that you do it once the shipping is expensive. Bob will help you he is a great guy. Best regards Moray James.
