Any opinions on the bass section of Klipsch LS?
I want to build a pair. I will also have to find an apropriate driver for it.
I you know something...please post 😀

Hi I see that you opened several topics on horns.
It seems to me you do not read what is posted there or did not understand what was posted there. Because you keep asking the same questions.

you got some choices... pm me for more info... the best replacement 15" driver for scala is CW1526 by Bob... search it... for mid and tweets also CT125 or selenium HF drivers...
K-55 mid-range driver is one of the best... K-77s are also tweets... the original K-33 is woofer
you're not gonna be disappointed by building Scala if you chose the right driver... you might be wanting stick to them for the rest of you audiophile life ... I mean it

I get carried away with most of my ideeas 🙂). I an a newb...and i love horns and SET amps. So that creates alot of confussiuon 🙂).
But now it is time to build something!
I'm gonna go with the Scalas because they are easy to build and i don't want to lose any more time with designing my own.
Helmuth. Have you ever heard an Iwata horn? They look SWEET! That's what i am planning to use for the MF driver. If they sound good.

Hello Razvan, what mf driver did you chose? ku-516?
Send me a pm i might be able to loan for testing you a pair of sectoral horns, fiberglass copies of Altec 511.

No I did not hear the itawa they look cool. I do not know how much money you got to spend it is the exspensive way to make a horn system.
Better take the monacor KU-516 driver and build a nice horn for it.
And the p-audio sold by monacor as supertweeter. MONACOR INTERNATIONAL : Product Detail Page
And the 10" monacor sp10-100pa in a conical horn like Volvotreter. Size is expectable.
Or the beyma sm115 in the la scala made a nice sim. is very big

I suggest to build Cornscala instead of Scala ... Scala is not that easy to build... easier so say than done... Cornscala will go down to 30hz ~ but scala is around 50hz... but Cornscala looses 4db in nominal build but can be improved... very easy to build

Cornscala is BR-low.
@ Rvrasvan
The eminence deltalite 2510 10" perform like a champion in the simulation.
0,5 PHI
1 phi still 55Hz!

Make it simple straight.

If you can manage to build Scala correctly, I badly suggest it... you can also mod it for "Ported Scala that goes down to 30hz... might want to hear it for the rest of your audiophile life

This is what i have in mind.
I hope i will be able to find a good driver that will do 400hz-10khz in an Iwata horn. I will fill the top with an APT-200(i am buying them tomorrow).
My biggest concern are the XO points->no XO in 500-10k region...al least
@Hentai. I won't use the KU-516 yet. But I will buy one soon because i want to hear it! 😀
@helmuth.....You are not helping! I am trying to keep my mind away from those beautiful straight horn monsters 🙂).
This one with the KU516 you need to make a adapter. It has a big diameter but it is not very long. They look beautiful. >400Hz
this one is also 400hz> 50cmX50cm
450Hz> is more some thing for a la scala enclosure. 75cm is very wide.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Right now I'm listening to a Scala with a Selenium D-250X... this little baby is fantastic... I use it with CT125 tweets and CW1526C woofers and special XOvers...
D-250Xs sound very very close to Klipsch K-55s which are one of the best... K-55s are about 265$/pair... I'm satisfied with D-250X because of their nice price tag and also cheap replacement diagram
If they do have nice THD figures it is a perfect driverurl]

I would like to have something that goes higher but at this price i won't complain.....
To Buy: 2xAPT-50 with apt 200 horn
2xSelenium 250x
the smaller the horn the better less coloration. From 2Khz the horn size decrease a lot. I made a short conical horn 4cm long for a 1" bms pro I could use it from 2,5Khz up
Better take eminence atp 80
Or the monacor witch is a P-audio one nice short horn I hear it sound precise.
Ciare horn 450Hz
http://www.ciare.com/pdf/catalogo/PR313.PDF
400Hz 2" needs a adapter
106 euro http://www.centroradio.it/public/index.php?main_page=shop&products_id=912

Selenium horn 1" good loading at low frequency.

Show me a better one at 110dB -35dB=2% second harmonic distortion. Witch high end driver does this at 110dB?The second order distortion on that selenium is horrid... Will definitely colorate the voices.
