klh 10" sub amp need help
well, a little about the subject at hand first.
i bought a KLH subwoofer off ebay that "said" it worked, but it did for only the first 10 minutes then cut off. turn it off and let it settle for a few minutes and then it would play for another 10 minutes or so. so, i got pissed and chunked it out on the lawn. okay, now i have no sub, but a half wit amp. so, i bought another klh 10 sub enclosure off ebay that i knew didn't work, but the amps in the back were different and i couldn't swap them out. again this sucks!!
i found out that the fuse on the 2nd sub i bought was blown so i bought some more and they kept blowing, but the power would come on for few seconds. well, i couldn't get it to stop blowing fuses so i cut the wires and hardwired it to work. that made it power on, but when i plug it into the speakers i get a bad hum noise and if i hook it up to a signal i get nothing but the hum still. on one of the boards on the amp it looks like around a few of the resistors that it got hot, the board looks alittle brown. when i had it powered on that was were it was getting hot too. could the resistors be bad?? they are grey tube looking pieces with different colored stripes on them, resistors right?? obviously i don't know a whole lot about it, but i am trying to fix it. any suggestions on this??
next is the amp that used to only play for 10 minutes...i can get it to power on, but i get nothing with a sub is hooked up with or without a signal. the boards look fine, etc, etc..... any suggestions??
sorry for the long post, but i figured i would give the history of my bad luck lately. that's what i get for buying crap off ebay!!
help!

It's quite possible you are going to start a fire. The resistors are probably getting hot because one or more active devices died and are drawing too much current. Since you've run it like this for some time, there is no telling what other components may have been damaged at this point.
Judging from your experience level, I think trying to repair this is going to be an exercise in frustration. Parts Express and ApexJr both sell affordable plate amps.

KLH RULES BABY!!!! YEAAAHH.
true, but i don't have 4 million to lay out on "BOSE" or etc top brand. i LOVE my KLH matched system. 10" sub (WAY more than enough) and KLH surround rears w/ klh bookshelfs (8") and klh center. i can turn it all the way up on my pioneer 500 watt system and it doesn't complain a bit.
the best car speakers i ever had were OPTIMUS, yeah radioshack of all places... way better than the infinity i had!!

Everybody starts somewhere. You could definitely do a lot worse than KLH for the money.
In fact, I believe the first speakers I ever bought were little radioshack (optimus!) bookshelves that were KLH OEM clones.
Of course, if you stick around here for a year, you'll probably get the bug to start upgrading. But the upside is you'll definitely learn a lot.

Re: to bill bose boy
You have a lot to learn. I'll get you started.
1) Ebay is an expensive way to save money. (I bought a $600 saxophone that's now a planter.)
2) That's funny.
