Kitchen MP3 Dock / Radio - Advice on it all!

Hi All,
I'm hoping for a bit of help in pointing me in the right direction for a project I've had knocking around my head for a while... I'm roughly 'competent' when it comes to DIY/electronics, following (and understanding!) instructions is fine but design&build for Amps is proving a bit above me 😕

So my end game is to have a little speaker/amp set up inside of the shell of a nice old Roberts R200 radio I've got - my current setup of a cheapo wharfdale ipod dock and an airport express stuffed in there isn't quite what I had in mind! 😉

To break it down, the way I see it there are four 'sections';

1) Amplifier

2) Speakers

3) Power

4) Other switchy bits (!)

1) First things first I guess, something around 10W to 15W output perhaps, is that overkill? Looking around there seems to be general suggestions around Class-D or T, certainly the few kits I found in the UK were in this output range and Class-D I think.

2) Speakers are kind of limited by the size of the radio... 7.5cm full range 8ohm sound about right? Actually - just checked the depth of the enclosure which could become an issue and it's only around 10cm external depth so might have to go even smaller... hmm...
Picture and Dimensions

3) Dependent on the above I guess!

4) On my hit-list to include; on/off switch, volume control, source selector (between external 3.5mm socket and alternative 'internal' source most likely with a 3.5mm jack also - this is looking like my raspberry pi to provide an airplay/streaming source)

Any advice (or indications of a better way/place to ask this... 😀) would be greatly appreciated!

Hivi B3N, you can find it here
Pass by the full Range forum for any other recomendation, filter, box design, I know you are already using an old radio, but maybe you could build and enclousure to install it inside the R200.

Power supply

Something like this

Switchy bits

All you Said... As you have 3 knobs, I would use one for a rotary switch, one for input selector, and the one thats its the dial, use it for the volume, nice efect to see the red arrow as a volume indicator. Maybe add bluetooth reciever.
