Kicker Comp C12 Subwoofer?

Hey all,

So iv'e decided to build another Home subwoofer once again! 🙂
but this time i want something more serious. so i started to look around for car subs (since thats the only kind i can get here) at the price of about 450 NIS (around $100)

while i was looking i ran into the Kicker Comp C12 and by it's T/S parameters its looks pretty good when compared to the Pioneer TS-W305/306C Subs (which are the same price as the Kicker)

So here is some info on the Kicker Comp C12

So what do you think? can i use it at home? and what size box do you recomend?

No one has any idea?

I want this to be a good sounding sub for what it is, therfor i came here for advice, because i know someone will help me, and its my first time going by WinISD, so i dont have much of a clue about what to do.

I built 2 sonotubes Kicker Comps C15" tune to about 18-16hz.With just one it rock the house. I'm a big Kicker fan...but if i was you i would go for vented tune it to 25-20hz. What size Amp you have to push it with. IF you go with a seal box...you need a good 300w amp or better. 2 Comps C15 that i have is running off a PE250w Amp.

The Driver is the new 2005 Comp Series, 150w Rms, 300w Max.
The amp that i am using is a parallel opa541 doing about 100-120 watts into 4 ohms.
i was hoping to go with a seald box, beacuse i dont quite understand the whole consept of tunning the box and all..
will my amp be alright for this? i already have a filter with volume, cut off frq, 60-300 bosst from 15hz-150hz, Q and phase.

Is this going to be for HT or HT + Music? What are you looking for? Deep bass that you can feel in your chest. If so vented box...then the 100w-120w amp should be ok. If you want more controll of the sub then the sealed box...but a bigger amp. I had a '98 Kicker XPL 12" in a sealed box @ 2.5 cu.ft with this PE250w amp and it was nice....but I had to turn up the volume to about 1:00 clock. Now it's about 10:00 clock. You'll have to ask some of the guys here on how to do the ports...as I had to get help on that too.

I want the sub more for music, since it will be in my bedroom, it will be running with small 2-way speaker.
The reason why i dont want to buy/cant a new amp is becuase i already have the filter+opa541 amp and i dont have cash right now for a new amp (The cost of the amp + shipping and tax=will be a to much cash)

Hey again,

After putting alot of thought into this, i am going to go with a 56L sealed box, and make a more powerful amp. the BPA-200!
All thats left to do is,... well, evrything! pick up the speaker, build the box, get the amp up and running, and test the whole set up!
