KiCad 9.0.1 is released

I installed it today and discovered it tries to save files to my_pc/onedrive/... I've disabled OneDrive, I never use it.
Without the ability to save work KiCad is a no-go for me, unfortunately. If the menu fonts were scalable I'd look under the hood to try to fix the issue but on a 2K resolution screen it's not fun anymore.

I am on openSUSE Tumbleweed which means that I get bleeding edge versions of most software packages, I actually designed several PCBs in KiCAD 9 but it was not a great experience. I had more crashes in several weeks than in at least 5 years of using KiCAD prior to v9! Frankly, v9.0.1 and v9.0.2 have not been great either in terms of stability.

some bugs on the 9.1 with the mouse and the measurement tool, and to slide from the measurement to the "arrow" cursor.

but nice improvment. I didn't find an easy way to space two pth or more with a distance number in spite of spacing them graphicly and measure.

reopen backups "box" is a mess as well, but i haven't rtfm yet. So very wysiwyg fun cad 🙂 !

better to use the 8 for now.

I transitioned to 9.0x months ago and have had few problems with it - certainly no more than I had with 8.0x. Current release is 9.02 which works well. I have done several layouts since the change to 9.0x - note that I am running the windows version on W11 pro in the event this has any bearing on the issues you are having.

I have never experienced a completely bug free version of KiCad, but most are quite minor. And I like it better than the competition. 🙂

Ok, I have to let the Aspberger engineer berserk inside me jump out as people resist/insist on improper software versioning "grammar".
There is No KiCad 9.1 OR... 9.02 OR... 9.03 and will Never be, currently, for KiCad it's 3 digit groups separated by 2 dots. aka three part Semantic Versioning, i.e. 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.0.3... etc
In programming and engineering, a missing dot may have catastrophic consequences.

Back to my coffee..

eidt: BTW, I use to follow KiCad's bug smashing trends with burn up/-down charts on:
https://gitlab.com/groups/kicad/-/milestones
They did adjust and postpone the release date a 2nd time so 9.0.3 is now 'expected' at 22 June.

You are of course correct, but that is a bit nitpicky in a way. LOL
