I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that my 30 W (Class A) tube amp isn't quite up to the task of properly driving my Martin Logan Spires.
I was very interested in the M125 tube monoblock kit until, after much research, I decided on a pair of Kenwood L-07m monoblocks.
This pair seem to have been kept in good shape (one owner - a recently deceased Symphony Conductor) although with an amp that is 38 years old, I'm thinking it is prudent to expect to be replacing a few resistors and caps!
So I'm reaching out to the this community to see if there is anyone has any experience with upgrading an L-07? What replacement caps/resistors would you recommend? Any other thoughts or gotchas to look out for would be appreciated.
TIA.
cheers,
NN

I would replace just the electrolytic capacitors in these amps. There should be no reason to replace anything else if the amplifier is functioning correctly. These are quite rare and very well regarded.
Hi,
+1 on just replacing the electrolytics.
Panasonic capacitors are a good choice.
rgds, sreten.

L-07M contains the dreaded 'black flag' silver mica caps which MUST be replaced. I would suggest going over to the Audiokarma forum, there is a lot of data on the L-07M, as well as several people who are very knowledgeable about this amp.
